Hello! I am a Dutch-based tattoo artist and painter in Delft, the Netherlands. I’ve been tattooing professionally since 2020, but my career as an artist started long before that.
I studied classical art in Florence and graphic design (BA, Rotterdam), and I have worked as an art demonstrator for the well known Royal Talens. I’ve been painting for more than 16 years, and that background really shapes how I tattoo today. My artistic approach, combined with my graphic design and branding background, helps me create work for each client that feels unique to them.
I’ve always believed you should tattoo what you would want to have tattooed on yourself. I’m a lover of all things culture, folk art and history, so naturally I’ve always been drawn to Delft Blue, even since I was a little girl growing up in the Netherlands. When I first started tattooing, I knew this was eventually where I wanted to go. But working with coloured ink requires a refined skill set that takes time to develop. After three years of tattooing professionally, I finally felt ready to approach Delft Blue tattoos.
I started by studying Delft Blue designs and trying to create them myself, but everything felt a little… off. So I brought my work to the Delft Blue factory De Blauwe Tulp and asked for feedback. It was there that I realised there is a whole set of rules and structures that need to be followed. In that moment, I knew I needed to learn the inside knowledge, so I asked if I could do a part time apprenticeship with them and paint at their factory.
Painting Delft Blue
I feel very privileged that I had the opportunity to do an apprenticeship at a Delft Blue factory. Working at De Blauwe Tulp was a wonderful experience for me, as I was surrounded by hundreds of beautiful Delft Blue works to be inspired by. I also had the freedom not only to paint, but to design whatever inspired me that day. I was able to create a wide variety of Delft Blue work and receive support and feedback from the lovely artists there. I took the knowledge I learned about creating Delft Blue designs and applied those traditional rules to my contemporary medium of tattooing.
My goal in doing this was to learn Delft Blue design and understand how it works, not to become a full time Delft Blue painter. This means I am unfortunately not available for commissions for Delft Blue porcelain work. Those can be requested from the wonderful artists at De Blauwe Tulp (I am, however, available for custom Delft Blue tattoo design requests).
